This year, Thanksgiving on the US falls on November 23, 2023, exactly 60 years from the debut of Doctor Who, so it seems only fitting to celebrate by re-upping my conversation with actor, songwriter, and writer Peter Davison, who played the Fifth Doctor.
You may also know Peter from shows like the original All Creatures Great and Small, At Home with the Braithwaites, Campion, and The Last Detective. He’s also done several West End musicals, including Spamalot and Gypsy. We wander through his varied career, the process of writing his memoir, Is There Life Outside the Box: An Actor Despairs (which is a truly delightful read), the “rise of the nerds,” and more.
