On the podcast this week, writer, teacher, and filmmaker Kevin Carey joins me to talk about his journey as a writer, and particularly about the ways revision, rejection, and perseverance make all the difference.
Kevin, who is the coordinator of creative writing at Salem State University in Massachusetts, also talked with me about writing across genres—his new middle grade novel, Junior Miles and the Junkman, is a very different book from his crime novel, Murder in the Marsh, for instance—and the necessary art of learning to take feedback well.
