This week on the podcast, I’m talking with composer Dominic Glynn.
Dominic got his start writing music for television at a very young age when the producer of Doctor Who hired him. To his surprise, he was asked to retool the show’s iconic theme tune as well as to write incidental music for the show, none of which he had any experience doing. Fortunately, he found others to guide the way. And he did all this without knowing how to read music!
He’s since written music for shows as diverse as Red Dwarf and the Simpsons, as well as documentaries and the 2023 Oscars.
Dominic is a great example of why you should never sell yourself short. Start where you are, with what you have. Ask a lot of questions, and be willing to learn as you go.
