Wild birds. I am thankful for wildlife and especially for wild birds. They are magical singing jewels.

I love the honesty, the inspiration, and the practicality! I also love that the holiday has us all writing about the same topics this week. It feels communal, which is in short supply these days!

Thanks, Kelly! It’s kind of unavoidable, isn’t it? It feels sort of like an obligation to tackle the gratitude beast this week (but don’t ask me what I’ll do next year!). And I’m all for more communal energy. 😁

Great post, Nancy! I've never been good at gratitude lists and I agree, they often feel forced. But I do try to stop and appreciate all of life's gifts. Like when our kitchen wall clock died this week and I felt so unmoored, I realized how much I took that clock for granted. I love watching hummingbirds sip from the feeder and perch on the ledge to rest for a minute or two. It's a reminder to slow down and contemplate the beauty all around us. I love toast with butter and jam or avocado or peanut butter on top. I love tap dancing. I'll never be a great tap dancer, but it doesn't matter. Just making sounds with my feet and dancing along to jazz standards brings me endless joy.

I love this! The wall clock is such a great example of something we don't notice until it's not there, isn't it? Thank you for reminding me of hummingbirds, too! And the joy of doing something we'll never be super good at but love anyway is honestly one of the best bits of joy there is, IMO, because we can appreciate it without getting hung up on doing it "right." That could be a whole post right there! :)
